Etsy Sale & Fresh Finds

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

To celebrate the wonderful weather this weekend, we're having a sale in the Etsy shop (link on the right sidebar or click here -> FiveElevenDecor.

Enter code SPRING2014 at checkout for 10% off any order.

Also, check out my newest find - this awesome whale tail from WestElm.  He started out life with a brassy finish but that just doesn't go in my house...

Now if you just clicked on the link you may be asking yourself why I didn't just buy the soapstone version...well yes that would have been MUCH easier...but I liked the shape of the brassy version better ;)

So, I went down to my recently organized paint/supply stash (check it out here - DIY workbench) and got out my can of stripper (you heard me right).

This little guy took a few coats (if the first coat doesn't work, scrape off whatever finish has bubbled up and then spray again and wait 15 minutes - you MUST do this outside with a mask on, protective gear, etc).

Here's the end result...l.o.v.e.i.t!

I'm definitely trying to interject a more coastal vibe in my house and this definitely fit the bill (plus, ya know I love whales ;)

I also hung my chalkboard art print from LilyandVal by my bar area...super cute.  I'm not 100% sure of the placement yet but I'm letting it grow on me.   Now I need a drink...

Have a great weekend!

  1. Love the ocean vibe! I love the whale tale sculpture and I agree that the shape of the brass one is better.

    1. Thanks! I love how it turned out :) at first I was a little skeptical that I 'ruined it' after the first layer of paint came off... ;)
