Eleven Things Volume 15

So, I have been failing on my spending diet...working out...and eating...and most importantly...I have not been blogging on the regular....I need to get my act together...

What better way to get back into it then my favorite eleven random things...

1.  Maryland is beautiful...and the eastern shore is so much fun.  I'm catching up on uploading photos - here are a few from a recent day trip...

2.  I've said it before but this place has some of the best burgers...and here's a shot of some of my must-haves when visiting Ocean City....hmm no wonder I'm not doing well with my weight-loss goals...

3.  Have you seen the new anniversary blue ball jars?  I'm not a canner or anything but I think they're really cute for storing food, baking soda, etc.  I found mine at Target for about $10 for 6.  Here's a shot of the new vs. the original:

4.  I could really go for a strawberry margarita (I had one on Friday and now want to have one every day...they really make everything right in the world)...

5.  I'm really obsessed with monograms lately...I kept holding off in case my 'last name changed'...but I'm over that...focusing on myself and what makes me happy (sorry for the random venting...).  Any-way...so I ordered a silver monogram necklace from BaubleBar and I can't wait to get it...(usually takes about 4 weeks...which is an eternity for someone impatient like me)...

If you haven't checked out BaubleBar yet follow my link and you'll get 15% off your first order ---->  BaubleBar

Can't wait to see how it turns out with my initials :)

6.  I love Pottery Barn - I really do...but you need to really invest $$$ to pick up any furniture there.  I really love this console...but I'm conflicted - they don't sell it in the store so I can't see it first...plus if I buy it (as if I need more decor debt) - I'll have to part with my faux fireplace...which doesn't heat up much but has nice ambiance...decisions decisions

7.  I can't believe summer is almost over...I feel like everyone is going on vacation but me...I need to get on that...

8.  I found some moth holes in a few shirts...so I went the drastic route and cleared out my closet...no I'm not moving (trust me I'd take my shoes with me!)...I've wiped everything down and vacuumed galore...now I'm going through the ridiculous process of re-washing all my clothes....at least it shows me that I.don't.need.any.more.clothes.ever

9.  I decided to donate my curtains and make new ones...yes make.  I'm not a seamstress...but I seem to be telling myself I can do this...I ordered the fabric from fabric.com...definitely different than the velvet-flocked formal drapes I had in here before...can't wait to get it in the mail and have a panic attack over my sewing machine :)

10.  I bought roses for myself after a particularly awful day at work...aren't they beautiful?

11.  I'm really excited about this project - I saw something similar on Pinterest and would love to give the person credit but the link went nowhere (don't you hate that?)

I (with a lot of help from my father in the plumbing aisle) made a bracelet/watch/jewelry display rack out of metal pipe fittings...I am so thrilled with how it turned out and I'm now selling them in my Etsy shop if you don't want to go through the hassle of buying all the pieces at Lowes (and cleaning the oil off...it's kind of messy):  Industrial Metal Pipe Bracelet Holder

Silvering...Ladew...and My Love for the Ocean

Well, I'm ready to go to bed and it's not even 9 yet!  Lonnng day...

I do have a DIY project, a find, and some travel photos to share :)

First, a super-simple DIY...

Have I mentioned that I'm addicted to Pinterest?  In a major way.  I have this really ancient book...

See?

I found it on my trip to Austin, TX.  I love the blue cover and amazing typography.  But the page edges are pretty worn (you'd be too if you were made in the 1800s...just sayin...) and this book sits right next to my bed so I decided I wanted to jazz it up...you purists out there might want to scroll down and skip this part...

Yup, I decided to use some silver leaf like I saw on Pinterest.  I bought my silver leaf on Amazon and I just used a sponge brush to apply.  You must use this stuff outside it is po-tent.

I didn't really mind if it didn't look perfect....I'm not all about perfect and I was going for an aged silver look anyway...

We visited Ladew Topiary gardens (in MD) for the first time a few weekends ago.  It was a little rainy but still really pretty.  Here are some of my favorite shots:

I did some beading over the weekend - I've added three new necklaces to the Etsy shop - a preview of the shop can be found on the right sidebar -->

Finally, I happened to browse estate sales in my area a few weeks ago and found one a few miles away with a painting that I just fell in love with.  I haven't been to an estate sale since...April maybe?

Well, I got there first and I was asking the lady when they were opening and if she could tell me the price of the painting - if she wanted hundreds I wasn't going to wait for 30 minutes until they 'officially' opened.  She told me around $40...so I waited...then once I got my hands on the painting I had to wait again for them to give me a price...then they told me $60... :(  normally I would decline just on principle but I was emotionally attached to this beauty already...

Here's how she looked when I brought her home:

A little updating and some finagling from the master hanger (aka my Dad):

I love all of the blue tones against the navy blue walls.  I just love old ocean paintings - they always remind me how calming the coast can be.

How about you?  Any new finds or travel anywhere exciting?
