Starting to look a lot like Christmas...

So normally I would love a good snow storm...but not this week...not when I'm flying tomorrow...

Dear Mother Nature...can you hold off until I get back from my vacation, please?  Going to pray that the weather improves by tomorrow morning...and that these headaches I've had for about two weeks now go away.  Hopefully that's not asking too much?

I wanted to share my Christmas decorations (I've shown a few sneak peeks so far) as well as my Christmas Eve dinner table.

This is how the table looked before I figured out my centerpiece situation:

I found a place for my preserved boxwood wreath from decorsteals - my Mom bought this for me as an early Christmas present and I love it.  I like the contrast between the greens, the vintage silvery velvet ribbon and the different woodtones of the yardsticks.

I'm kind of obsessed with how my centerpiece turned out...prepare for photo-overload :)   I used some of my blue depression glass compotes as vases and filled them with white roses and tulips.

Hope you're staying safe and warm this holiday season :)

Office Bookcase Styling Reveal

So, I broke down and bought a second bookcase from Wayfair-I just loved the first one so much.

Well, I was about an inch off in my I had to juggle things around and finally decided to take the door off the hinges and voila...everything fits.  Not ideal...but I don't usually close that door anyway.

Please excuse the awful stucco-ish ceiling...every other wall and ceiling was re-done in the house but this one...not sure what the renovators were thinking...

I also bought new drapes for the office from Wayfair - they're a really pretty deep navy blue.  I bought the curtain rod from HobbyLobby.  The finials look like tortoise shell glass.  I was going to spray them but I kind of like how they look with the blue.

Tricky to get a good shot of my desk with all the light that comes through the window.  I really need to install my photoshop software :)

I was thinking about looking for a new old desk to makeover for my office but for now I like my old drafting table.  I'll have to see if I come across any cool old wooden desks while treasure hunting.

Some close-up shots of the bookcase styling:

I'm not in love with the styling on the left shelf yet but I'm okay with it being a work-in-progress.

I found this beautiful purple stone bookend at HomeGoods (who thought I'd actually stay away with a gift card burning a hole in my pocket??)

I'm having Christmas Eve dinner at my house and I've started decorating and setting the table. I'll post more photos once everything is set on the table.  I'm thinking about getting some flowers for the centerpiece (to fill my blue depression glass bowls).

Happy Holidays!

Eleven Things Volume 9

Hello lovely people.  It's Sunday evening and my office space /workout space (yeah right) / creative space is a disaster area!  So, I'm feeling a random blog post is in order...because I'm a bit scattered right goes...

1.  So I mentioned in a previous post that I am obsessed with these marble / metal bookshelves.  They're a million times better than the Ikea bookcases I had in here (not that there's anything wrong with Ikea...Billy and I go way back).

They weren't the easiest to put together (or haul upstairs) but I think if you have someone helping you they'd go together pretty quickly. I just purchased a second set to go on the other side of my art cabinet and I think it will just fit.

Here's how the first side looks:

2.  I bought the shelves from Wayfair.  I also bought my pharmacy lamp from Wayfair a while back.  I ended up having to call customer service to order the second set of shelves and my experience was AMAZING.

Seriously, I couldn't believe how great the customer service was.  If you want to check them out - click through this link and you get 10% back in rewards on your first order (over $100) -> Wayfair

3.  I found this awesome antique dental cabinet at Lucketts.  I had visions of painting/refinishing it but it's just too big for my space and out of my price range right now.  Go scoop it up if you need a great piece for organizing all your junk :)

4.  I know everyone's doing it but how can you not love color-coded design books?  If this is wrong, I don't want to be right.

5.  I love styling bookcases and shelves.  I wish I could be a professional stylist.  But I'm guessing most people wouldn't pay for such a service.

6.  I drove by a HomeGoods today with a giftcard in my wallet...and I didn't stop.  I'm working on self-control.  I didn't say I liked it.

7.  I decided to polish some of my old silver today because it was getting pretty tarnished.  I really need to google how to keep that crap from turning so quickly.

First step is admitting you have a problem...holy silver collection...

8.  I really need to install my photoshop lightroom software that I bought forever ago...I'm sure these photos could be a-mazing if I knew how to use it...

9.  I made a new multi-strand necklace...I think I'm keeping this one...can't bring myself to sell it in the Etsy Shop.

10.  While reworking my bookshelves I'm taking the opportunity to edit and purge as much as possible.  I'm selling a few things in the Etsy shop, the rest I'm putting into plastic bins in the basement for the next yard's going to be a big one.

I know I'm a collector but I just feel smothered by all my junk I the only one??

11.  There were so many estate sales and barn sales this weekend.  I banned myself since I'm trying to cut back...but I bet there were some great treasures out there :)

Happy Treasure Hunting!
