Treasure Hunting is my cardio :)

I went out shopping yesterday and stopped by a few of my local thrift stores.  I've been looking for ornate frames lately and found a beautiful one (below).  I decided to make it into a great chalkboard for my kitchen counter.

I applied three coats of Valspar chalkboard paint (it only came in pint size and it was pretty pricey for the small amount I needed...so you will be seeing more chalkboard projects here soon!), sprayed the frame silver and applied some black enamel for an antiqued look.  I LOVE how it turned out.  What do you think?

Ornate Frame Turned Chalkboard

Before & After

Finished product-next to my ice bucket from HomeGoods that I use for all of my utensils.  It's hard to see but I also have all of my wisks in a vase I scored from Target in the clearance section-it's a silvered 'faux bois' (fancy for wood grain) textured vase.

Happy Treasure Hunting!
