Antique China Cabinet-Turned Linen Cabinet

I live in an old house (circa 1928 to be exact).  Apparently closets weren't very popular back pantry, linen closet, or coat closet.  Hence, why I had to make my third bedroom into a 'closet room.'

So I took the opportunity to search high and low for a great china cabinet that I could turn into a linen closet/cabinet.  I found this one at an antique store-it was dusty and run down so I had no problem painting over the'll learn I'll paint justtttt about anything.

Before & After

I absolutely love how it turned out...especially the Anthropologie crystal knobs that cost an arm and a leg...I used three different styles. You can't put a price on beautiful knobs, right??

Finished product with all of my favorite towels (from Homegoods, of course).  On top of the cabinet is a great mirrored star I found at a thrift store for $5.  It was copper (why would anyone do that??) so I painted it black and I think it looks like a great old antiqued mirrored star.

The hatboxes I painted myself (they're from the craft store and hold hair stuff and light bulbs).

  1. Thanks for the encouragement to do the same to a china cabinet I have. It's an older maple turned orange cabinet, that I think will work great in our master bath with some new paint and some wonderful knobs:)

    1. Hi Kathi,

Thanks for the sweet comment. That sounds like a wonderful idea and I hope it turns out great! The knobs on my linen cabinet came from from Anthropologie. HobbyLobby also has some great affordable options if you have a store near you.
      Take care :)
